1949 - Dishonourably discharged from the RAF after two years of service (age 20)

1963 - Petty crook Biggs is part of a fifteen strong gang who holds a train on route to Glasgow from London. They get away with £2.6million leaving the train driver with head injuries.

1964 - Ronald Biggs is sentenced to 30 years in prison for his part in The Great Train Robbery.

1965 - Ronnie Biggs makes his escape from Wandsworth prison using a home made rope ladder. He jumps into a getaway vehicle and heads to Paris where Biggs has plastic surgery.

Ronnie Biggs was involved in Britian's greatest heist, the great train robbery. He went on the run after two years in prison and fled the county as a fugitive. For the next 36 years Ronnie Biggs was exciled in Brazil.

The Great Train Robbery

In 1963 Britain's biggest heist took place netting the receipients £2.4million in cash. Only a tiny percentage of the proceeds were ever recovered.
